Proton ExoraPada tahun 2009, wabak MPV telah melanda Malaysia secara tiba-tiba. Ketika itu, dua pengeluar kereta domestik Malaysia turut terjebak dalam wabak tersebut lalu mengeluarkan 2 model iaitu Proton Exora dan Perodua Alza.11 tahun kemudian, wabak yang lain pula muncul tetapi Proton Exora dan Perodua Alza masih berada dalam pasaran automotif.

The official name Proton Exora, along with its tagline Keriangan Keluarga (English: Family Fun) was announced on 17 February 2009.[13] ' Exora', which was inspired from the Ixora flower was chosen among 251,763 entries during the Name The Proton MPV competition by the grand prize winner, Norsholihan Binti Abdul Eanich.[14]
